Carpe Diem, #5 moon

Dear Haijin,

Almost one week 'in business' with my daily haiku meme. I am glad to see that you've found the way to Carpe Diem. It makes me humble and on the other hand very proud. This is a adventure, but 'till now I am a lucky guy and I am happy with all the responses I got.

Today's prompt is moon the moon is a kigo (seasonword) of  Autumn, because the Japanese are saying that the moon in Autumn is the prettiest of all moons. I think that's true. I am a Japan lover and I do love the moon of Autumn very much.

she, the moon of Autumn, is stunning -
sound of whirling leaves

Just an impromptu-verse as I like to call the haiku which I write 'ins blauen hinein', without a 'trigger'. But it has become a nice one I think.

This prompt will stay on 'till October 6th 11.59 AM (CET).
The prompt for October 6th is SPECIAL! Basho 1. See for more information on the Special prompt the Carpe Diem Preview #1 I will give the haiku which is the one to use as an inspiration right now:

fragile twigs
breaking off the scarlet papers
autumn winds

Matsuo Basho (1677)

See you tomorrow ... for a new Carpe Diem, seize the day haiku.

  1. she the moon is stunning as is the haiku ~ sorry for the double link up ~ trying to catch with your Carpe Diem ~ time zones and when I post ~ may be a bit off ~ "moon' is in the painting today and not the haiku ~ (A Creative Harbor)

  2. Happy to link up with you today, Kris. All haiku poets are obsessed with the moon and everyone becomes a poet when mesmerized by the moon!

  3. Ditto, awalkinmyheart! And, Kristjaan, your haiku are so peaceful and reflective. I like the first one best :-)
The "wolf" haiku you wrote on my blog corresponds perfectly with mine.

  4. Yes, even hidden the moon is stunning, even when the sun is shining because she is waiting...
I especially like the sound of "whirling" leaves following the moon moving.
Without preparation, not a classical haiku, 19 syllables, but very nice.
I agree with Seisensui when he says that the inner rhythm in a haiku is much more important than the outer 5-7-5 pattern, save that he conceived that inner rhythm as consisting of four parts.
    :)

  7. I can't help it, but the Autumn moon is one of my favorite themes to write haiku about. So ... I have posted another one. This time it is a short story with a haiku on moon. Enjoy the read.
