Carpe Diem #1017 true secret

Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

In this week in which we stand still by the passing away of Jane Reichhold I have chosen a nice quote by an English designer and poet, William Morris (1834-1896), on life.

William Morris wrote wonderful poetry and one of the most beautiful poems he wrote were gathered in "The Earthly Paradise", which follows the seasons (as is common to haiku poets). It takes to much time and space to reproduce the whole gathering, but I ran into a part of "The Earthly Paradise" that fits this tribute week for Jane.

Weep, O Love, the days that flit,
Now, while I can feel thy breath;
Then may I remember it
Sad and old, and near my death.
Kiss me, love! for who knoweth
What thing cometh after death?

And here is the quote for your inspiration:

[...] "The true secret of happiness lies in taking a genuine interest in all the details of daily life." [...]  William Morris

I hope this quote will inspire you to create haiku, tanka or an other kind of Japanese poetry form.

This episode is NOW OPEN for your submissions and will remain open until August 12th at noon (CET). Have fun!
