Carpe Diem, #15 Chrysanthemum

Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

Another day in Carpe Diem's haiku-paradise (smiles). Today we have Chrysanthemum for prompt. Chrysanthemums are the flowers of Autumn and Winter, it's a kigo (seasonword), for both seasons, but our classical haiku poets used it for Winter.
There are a lot of haiku written on Chrysanthemum and of course I love to share a few with you, my dear participants.
As you all know, I am a big fan of Basho (1644-1694) so I have chosen a few haiku written by him. I  will first give the Romanji verse and there after the English translation. These are (in my opinion) wonderfully composed, but ... well I am a bit prejudiced ... so see for your self if I am 'mad' or that I am completly full of mind.

shira giku no   me ni katete miru   chiri mo nanshi

white chrysanthemum:
gazing closely,
not a speck of dust

kasa no to ya   higurete kureshi   kiku no sake

grass-thatched hut -
as day darkens I'm given
chrysanthemum wine

kangiku ya   amazake tsukuru   mado no saki

winter chrysanthemum -
heating sweet wine
in front of the window

Aren't they wonderful?

There are several haiga (picture + haiku) on Chrysanthemum. I will publish a few here after.

And for today's prompt I have made my own Chrysanthemum haiga.

chrysanthemum tea
a whole new sensation
tickles my senses

This prompt will stay on 'till October 16th 11.59 AM (CET). I will publish the prompt for October 16th today around 10.00 PM (CET). The prompt than will be harbor.

Enjoy writing your haiku, be inspired and share your thoughts ... please leave a comment after linking.

PS.: I couldn't retrieve the owners of the first two haiga. If you're the owner? Please let me know, 'till than ... thank you for using these wonderful haiga.
