Carpe Diem Extra June 25th 2016 Kukai "Prayers" and "3rd Renga Party"

Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

Maybe it escaped from your attention, but on May 27th 2016 I posted a call for submissions for our new kukai "prayers", but until now I have only one CDHK family-member who has submitted haiku for this kukai "prayers".

You all will understand that this kukai needs some more submissions so I have decided to prolong the time you have to submit your haiku for the kukai "Prayer".

Please email your haiku (a maximum of three not published earlier) for the kukai "Prayers" to our email-address:

Please write 'kukai prayers" in the subject line.

You can submit your haiku until July 10th 10.00 PM (CET).

PS. I will start with our third Renga Party after this weekend on Monday June 27th. I will make a line-up and publish it here at our Haiku Kai. I know this is somewhat later than planned, but as I wrote in one of our earlier posts this month I have underestimated the time which I need for the research of our Europe Ginko.

Carpe Diem Extra 30 - 2015 Preparations (update)

Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

As you all know next October we will celebrate our third (3rd) anniversary. I am already busy with preparing that festive month for our Haiku Kai. In one of my earlier posts I told you that I have found a wonderful featured haiku poet already. Again a well known haiku poet, Michael Dylan Welch, will be our featured haiku poet.
Recently Jane Reichhold introduced me to Tom D'Evelyn, another well known haiku poet from the USA. At first I asked him to be our second featured haiku poet, but he did me a proposal which I accepted. Tom will write an essay especially for Carpe Diem Haiku Kai. I am honored that Tom will do this for CDHK.
Is that all there is? No, ... I hope to come in contact with Cor van den Heuvel, a well known haiku poet too, and I will ask him the same question as I did ask Tom. I hope he (Cor) will be our 2nd featured haiku poet or that he will write an essay for us. I keep you all posted.
Than of course there will be our prompts, all Japanese festivals. I will (try to) tell more about the background and mythology of those festivals and when they will take place (or took place).
Last but not least. I hope to come in contact with one or two Japanese haiku poets/esses. Jane Reichhold will try to find one or two through her connections with the Japanese haiku and tanka world. I hope to inform you all later this month.

Carpe Diem Extra 29 - 2015 Update New CDHK e-book

Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

As you all know I have very close contact with Jane Reichhold, one of the most known modern haiku poets. I love to update you all on a project that Jane and I have started.

Yesterday I have spoken (through the mail) with Jane Reichhold. She and her husband are both well and healthy and are following CDHK with a lot of joy. This week I have created the e-book of Jane Reichhold's "Bare Bones School of Renga" and send it to her to get her permission of publishing. Together with Jane I have brought in a few changes and Jane asked me to enclose a new piece of text to it. I am busy to fulfill her wishes before publishing and I hope to publish it later on this week.

Than another thing I love to share with you. As you all maybe know I started last year (2014) with my own publishing company "Chèvrefeuille's Publications", maybe you have read that already in the published e-books. The goal of that publishing company is to bring e-books on haiku, tanka or other Japanese poetry forms to a bigger audience for free. I am really enjoying this new part of CDHK and today I decided to also create epub and mobi formats. I am busy to become qualified with those new e-book formats and the first epub edition of "On The Trail With Basho" is almost ready to publish.

To close this CD Extra ... our first Renga Party is running and I have read wonderful links. I enjoy this Renga Party a lot but of course I love to hear from you all if I have to change something e.g. more rules, do we have to follow the classical way, syllables count and so on.
As you all know I cherish this haiku family very much and I have said this earlier in several posts ... we are a family and I cannot make Carpe Diem Haiku Kai without so please feel free to bring in your ideas.
