Carpe Diem, #16 Harbor

Dear haijin, visitors and travelers,

Welcome to a new day in Carpe Diem's first month of daily haiku pleasure. Today the prompt is harbor. I live at the seashore and my town has a harbor. So this must be an easy to write prompt for me today ... and I hope it will be easy for you too.

My hometown (Lelystad, The Netherlands) has several harbors, but at the most important one we have a great statue called 'exposure'. It's a great steel structure and it shows a squatting man that looks over the IJsselmeer (a large lake, a former sea called Zuiderzee) that's the result of the dutch reclaim of land from the waters. Here in my hometown 'exposure' is sometimes called 'the shitting man', because it looks like someone who's shitting in free nature.

"Exposure"
"Exposure" is guarding our harbor and it's a wonderful piece of art. You can say that "exposure" is the business card of our town.

Well ... what do you think? I love this cascade very much and it was a joy to compose it for Carpe Diem.

This prompt will stay on 'till October 17th 11.59 AM (CET) and I will post our prompt thunderstorm for October 17th around 10.00 PM (CET). Have fun, be inspired and write and share your haiku with us on Carpe Diem.
Please share a comment after linking. Do you have a suggestion for the prompts? Share them and maybe you will see your suggestion back in Carpe Diem.

  1. Shitting man, hehe, first I thought it should be "sitting", but no, he's shitting!
I don't like the statue, whatever he is doing, but I like your cascade haiku a lot, mainly for its contrast with reality.

  2. What a laugh! I cannot begin to understand the ideas that spawned this installation! The sculpture is honored by your label of 'guardian'....
