Carpe Diem Extra January 20th 2018, The Results of the Departure kukai


Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

First I have to apologize because I am very late with publishing the results of our Departure kukai of last year 2017.

The Winner of this kukai, with 12 points, is Isabel Caves with the following beauty:

With this winning haiku Isabel has won the opportunity to create her own E-Book together with Chèvrefeuille's Publications.

And the "runner-up", with 6 points, is a beautiful haiku written by Laura Williams (a.k.a. Lolly):

Carpe Diem Extra Augustus 29th 2017 results of the sunflower kukai


Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

Here are the results from the Sunflower Kukai. I am a little bit late, but there were several circumstances that needed my attention, so therefore I had not enough time to gather the results of the Sunflower judging.


The WINNER (with 11 points) of the Sunflower kukai is Lolly Williams with the following haiku:

end of summer
a spider threads all its hope
on a sunflower


And our RUNNER-UP (with 5 points) of the Sunflower kukai is Dolores Fegan with the following haiku:

amber petals
set ablaze by evening sun
lighting the garden


Both CONGRATULATIONS with this result ... both haiku are really beautiful.

Here are the points:

Haiku 15: 5 points
Haiku 5, 9 & 12: 3 points
Haiku 16, 18 & 22: 2 points
Haiku 10, 11, 25 & 30: 1 point
All the other haiku didn't receive points

Than ... I have another announcement. Maybe you can remember that I started the new kukai "Departure" and that that kukai would close on July 23rd 2017. However there were only four poets that submitted haiku for the "departure" kukai, so I have decided to re-open the "Departure" kukai right now to give those who haven't submitted yet the possibillity to submit a max of three (3) haiku for the "departure" kukai. I will close the submission-period on September 15th 2017 10:00 PM (CET),

Carpe Diem Kukai Cherry Blossom - The Results


Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

It is my pleasure to announce the results of our Cherry Blossom kukai. This CD-Kukai edition had 25 haiku submitted by nine (9) haiku poets. It was really a joy to read them all and to re-read them all to judge them.

It is my pleasure to announce to you that Ese has won this CD-Kukai with the following haiku:

old gardener
still sees her smile
in cherry blossoms

A beauty I would say and I think it has won through the strong emotions in the scene.

And our "runner-up", with a beautiful haiku too is Kim Russell with the following haiku:

pink sakura blush   
spring’s kimono falls to earth
silk snatched by a breeze

Congratulations to you both with being the winner and the "runner-up". As you all know the winner, Ese, has won the opportunity to create an exclusive CDHK E-book of a maximum of 50 haiku or 30 pages, of course this negotiable.
And the "runner-up", Kim Russell, won the opportunity to create her own Carpe Diem Tokubetsudesu episode. (This is different with the other kukai we have had).

Carpe Diem Kukai "Autumn" the results


Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

First I have to apologize for being this late with the results of our Autumn kukai of 2016. It totally escaped from my attention through several things, but I hope you will forgive me.

Here are the results of the Autumn kukai:

Our winner of the Autumn kukai is Hamaish "Managua" Gunn with the following haiku, a haiku in the free-style of Santoka Taneda:

And our "runner-up" of the Autumn kukai is Sara McNulty with the following haiku in which you can sense the cosiness of an autumn evening. Days become shorter and the evenings become longer:

Carpe Diem Kukai "Tribute to Jane" - The Results


Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

Sorry for being this late with announcing the results of the Carpe Diem Kukai "Tribute to Jane". I hadn't time to make the voting complete. But here are the results of this wonderful tribute kukai for Jane reichhold who passed away last July.

You all have submitted wonderful haiku in tribute for Jane Reichhold and I am grateful for that and she would be proud too.

Carpe Diem Extra May 27th 2016 Kukai "New Life" the results


Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

What a joy I have the results of our "New Life" kukai. In this kukai eight (8) haiku poets have submitted a total of 22 haiku ... all beauties if I may say, but of course there can be only one winner and a "runner-up". The voting closed May 24th at 10.00 PM (CET) and now I have the results for you:

With a total of nine (9) points Joyce Joslin Lorenson (whom was featured in our second "In the Spotlight" episode) is our winner of the "New Life" kukai. Congratulations Joyce. Joyce won with the following haiku:

Carpe Diem Extra March 23rd 2016 the results of the Time kukai


Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

After a little CDHK storm I have finally found the time to share the results of the Time kukai. In this edition of the CDHK kukai we had 10 poets who shared 26 haiku together. It was really a joy to be the host of this kukai. And as you all (maybe) know I will create an anthology hereafter with the submissions for the "Winter"- and "Time"- kukai. During the last circumstances according to publishing I would like to ask you to email to our cdhk email-address if you don't want your haiku published in this "kukai" anthology.

Okay ... back to the results of the "Time"-kukai:

The winning haiku is the following:

morning becomes night
how much time has passed by
without a clock


This haiku got 10 points and the poetess who wrote this haiku is Sara McNulty. Congratulations Sara. As you will know, dear Sara, you have won the creation of a CDHK-E-book with a maximum of say 50 to 60 pages (or 30 haiku). The pages can of course deviate, there is not a very strict rule to that. And you will be our featured haiku poetess next month April 2016.




Than there were two runners-up Celestine with the following haiku:

first snowflakes and the leaves
frozen in time

I missed my train
snow falls softly ... tucking in the world -
