Carpe Diem #959 rain / raindrops

Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

Today it was a great sunny spring day here in The Netherlands and I have done a lot in the gardens around my home. I feel muscles which I never knew I had them (smiles). As you know I am an oncology nurse and hard labor with my hands isn't what I do on a regular base, mostly my hands are caressing the bodies of my patients while I am bathing them ... so My hands are a bit sour, but well ... I can still type ...

Today we have a nice prompt to write / create haiku or haiga about rain / raindrops and I think this prompt don't need explanation.

To inspire you all I dived into my (rich) archives and found a few nice haiku and haiga to share here.

First I love to share a haiku by (my master) Matsuo Basho for this prompt:

indeed this is just
Sogi's rain shelter

As I was surfing the Internet for a nice image, photo or painting with rain I ran into a wonderful website by Dusan Djukaric a watercolor artist. I couldn't find an e-mailaddress so I hope he doesn't mind that I use a painting ...

A beautiful painting I would say and it fits our prompt like a glove. People walking in the rain I think this is the Piazza San Marco in Venice . Hiding for the rain under their umbrellas, maybe they can find shelter in the cathedral in the background ... or in one of the pubs around this piazza. This painting gives me a kind of sad feeling, but also a feeling of warmth. I close my eyes and dream a little bit away. I see myself walking on the piazza together with the one I love trying to  under our umbrella, but than the rain becomes stronger and we have to run to one of the pubs. A dog barks to us. Finally we find a warm and cozy place, drink a cup of warm chocolate and we wait until the rain will stop.

Well ... sounds great ...

Here is a haiga which I created a while ago for my personal weblog:

raindrops on bamboo
shimmering in the sunlight
little diamonds

I realize that I didn't chose the right color for the haiku in this haiga, so that's why I reproduce the haiku as the caption.

I think I have inspired you enough. I am looking forward to your responses. This episode is NOW OPEN for your submissions and will remain open until April 24th at noon (CET). I will publish our new episode, fishing, later on.
