Carpe Diem Special #211 Joyce Lorenson's 3rd "May evening"

Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

It is time for a new episode of our CD-Special. This month we have a great haiku poetess as our featured poet. Joyce Lorenson is a very active member of our CDHK family as you can read in the most comment fields of our posts. Joyce has no own weblog so she was also featured in one of our "In The Spotlight" episodes and she was featured in the Spring issue of our e-zine Souchou. It is my pleasure to share a few haiku written by Joyce here with you to inspire you.

May evening
glittering with starlight
apple blossoms

slanting sunlight
by the sink
forced forsythia

their warm color
melting snow
in the daffodil trumpets

Daffodils
As you all know the goal of the CD-Specials is to try to write / create an all new haiku inspired on the given haiku ... trying to catch the tone, sense and spirit of the haiku poet.

Here is my attempt I chose to use a "chained tanka":

celebrating the sun
with narcissus flowers in my hair -
Spring Equinox
day and night the same length
departing Winter

departing Winter
visiting my ancestors graves
paying my respects
to Mother Nature ... flowers in my hair
Vernal Equinox

This episode is NOW OPEN for your submissions and will remain open until June 24th 10 PM (CET). Have fun!
