Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,
Another week has gone by. It was a busy week, had to work and of course I launched my new weblog Carpe Diem Haiku Kai Special which was welcomed by you all with great enthusiasm. I am so glad that I have launched that new weblog, but ... the Tan Renga Challenge will stay here at our first weblog Carpe Diem Haiku Kai, because I think it is one of the most beautiful features here.
Today I have a nice haiku for starting the Tan Renga written by Nicole the Local Artist of Setting fire to the landscape. She wrote this haiku in response on our second haiku by Alexey Andreyev and as I read this I was speechless ... so I had to use it ... I was glad that Nicole granted me her permission to use it. Here it is:
summer evening
a breeze turns leaves over
abandoned book
(c) Nicole the Local Artist
As you all know the goal of this Tan Renga Challenge is to write a second stanza towards the first, starting haiku. That second stanza has two line of 7-7 syllables. You don't have to follow the syllables count, but if you want use it ... feel free to do that.

Here is my completed Tan Renga "summer evening":
summer evening
a breeze turns leaves over
abandoned book (Nicole)
tearing the leaves apart
the Scripture goes on the wind (Chèvrefeuille)
Well ... it's up to you now ... have fun, feel inspired and share your completed Tan Renga with us all here at our Haiku Kai.
This Tan Renga Challenge will be open for your submissions until next friday, January 17th, 11.59 AM (CET) and is NOW OPEN for your entries.
I must congratulate you on picking a great haiku for the Tan Renga! I guess it comes with the many years of experience to see a good one. You have to read so many and it must be hard.
