Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,
Welcome at the second episode of this month of Carpe Diem Haiku Kai. This month I gave the "title" "The Power of Words" and that title refers to the prompts I have chosen to use this month. Maybe you remember our Carpe Diem special feature "Use That Quote", in which I challenged you to create a haiku, tanka or other Japanese poetry form inspired on the words (quotes) of known and unknown people. Yesterday I shared a quote by Gandhi to inspire you and today I have a nice quote by Hans Christian Andersen, the renown writer of fairy-tales and (as you maybe know) one of his fairy tales was about the "Little Mermaid".

Here is the quote by Hans Christian Andersen to inspire you:
[...] "Just
living is not enough... one must have sunshine, freedom, and a little
flower." [...] Hans Christian Andersen
A quote which could have been from a haiku poet ... one with nature ... trumpeting the beauty of Mother Earth.

This episode is NOW OPEN for your submissions and will be open until August 6th at noon (CET). I will (try to) publish our new episode, a Tokubetsudesu episode, later on. For now .... have fun!
Share your inspired haiku, tanka or other Japanese poetry form with us all here at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai, the place to be if you like to write and share haiku.
