Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,
Our second Special for November is another nice haiku by Issa. This one he wrote in 1792. He wrote several haiku on peonies, but I think this is the nicest.
chiru botan kinou no ame [wo] kobosu kana
the peony falls
spilling out yesterday's
rainspilling out yesterday's

It will not be an easy one to write a haiku about. This is a nice haiku by Issa and I will try to write a new one here:
big violet flowers
everywhere I look in the garden
peonies in full bloom
at sunset
the peonies in my backyard
spilling dewdrops
spilling dewdrops
it looks like she's in tears
the violet peony
Hm ... I had thought that I could (only) write one haiku ... but three ... it's a wonder.

DeleteWonderful haiku Kristjaan. Myself we never succeded with peonies in the garden. But roses do well.

ReplyDeleteYes I know Joanne, it's always my first thought 'this want be easy', but than I came up with haiku as I didn't expected. Writing haiku isn't easy, but it's always a joy to write them and that makes that it looks easy, but that isn't always so.

Just to let you know I did post a "peony" haiku. Took some thinking, but did come up with a haiku.
