Carpe Diem Special #7, Peony by Issa

Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

Our second Special for November is another nice haiku by Issa. This one he wrote in 1792. He wrote several haiku on peonies, but I think this is the nicest.

chiru botan kinou no ame [wo] kobosu kana

the peony falls
spilling out yesterday's
rain

Credits: Peony

It will not be an easy one to write a haiku about. This is a nice haiku by Issa and I will try to write a new one here:

big violet flowers
everywhere I look in the garden
peonies in full bloom

at sunset
the peonies in my backyard
spilling dewdrops

spilling dewdrops
it looks like she's in tears
the violet peony

Hm ... I had thought that I could (only) write one haiku ... but three ... it's a wonder.

This Special will stay on 'till November 18th 11.59 AM (CET) and our new episode of Carpe Diem relationship I will post today around 10.00 PM (CET).

Have fun! Let the haiku by Issa be your source of inspiration. Be creative and share your haiku with Carpe Diem. Thank you for participating and sharing.

Namaste

  1. Thanks for this new special, Kristjaan.
Your haiku trio is as beautiful as the image; I specially like the third one, wonderful.
    Have a happy weekend!

  3. you always say that writing haiku on any prompt "won't be easy", and then you proceed to blow us away with your words.....

    1. Yes I know Joanne, it's always my first thought 'this want be easy', but than I came up with haiku as I didn't expected. Writing haiku isn't easy, but it's always a joy to write them and that makes that it looks easy, but that isn't always so.
Thank you for your comment Joanne and your every day contributions to Carpe Diem.
