Carpe Diem Celebrates Its 8th Anniversary October 2020: #1835 caught by the call (Hando)

 

Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

Maybe you can remember that at the start of CDHK, I had every week a haiku by a special haiku poet. That haiku poet was the hightlight for a month. In December 2013 I had Hando as that special haiku poet and I shared five haiku by him that month. 

I love to reproduce the last of those five haiku here again, just by copying it here again. Every month I created a special logo for those Specials and for Hando it was the following logo:

In this time of year (December 2014) several things are for the last time, and that's also with our Carpe Diem Special of today. Today we have our fifth Special haiku by Hando and it's the last of this month and of this year. 

Here is our last Special haiku by Hando for your inspiration. Write a new haiku in the same tone, sense and spirit as the one by Hando. Good Luck

Carpe Diem Tan Renga Month May 21st: "the mountain stream" by Thomas Hand (penname: Hando)

Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

Welcome at a new episode of our Tan Renga Challenge Month. Today I have a nice "hokku" by Hando (penname of Thomas Hand), who was in our history once a featured haiku poet. It wasn't an easy task to find haiku by him, but I had the luck that I have done a few episodes about him somewhere in our CDHK history from which I could choose.

Awesome ... a wonderful place to meditate I would say. A place to try the Latifa Prayer meditaion maybe?

Carpe Diem Special #69, Hando´s 5th `caught by the call`

Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

In this time of year several things are for the last time, and that's also with our Carpe Diem Special of today. Today we have our fifth Special haiku by Hando and it's the last of this month and of this year. I haven't decided which haiku-poet will deliver our Specials next month, but one thing is for sure, it will be a Russian haiku-poet, because of our Trans Siberian Railway month. So ... you have to wait a little, but I will share haiku that are wonderful and Russian.

Carpe Diem Special #68. Hando's 4th, "puddles on the pavement"

Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

As we are on our way to Christmas and the end of 2013 I am in the nightshift, falling almost asleep because of the relaxed shift, and try to prepare our 4th Carpe Diem Special by Hando of this month. I have found another nice haiku composed by Hando and believe me it's not easy to find haiku written by him, because he has not a big oeuvre of haiku.

the puddles on the pavement
carry the moon, the stars
and cherry blossoms

Carpe Diem Special #67, Hando's 3rd ''sit in silence''

Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

I have sought the Internet and my ''haiku-library'' for a nice haiku written by our featured haiku-poet for this month, Hando, and I think I have found another nice haiku to share with you in this Carpe Diem Special. I hope it will inspire you all to write new haiku in the same sense, tone and spirit as the one by Hando.

on the Snowmass slope
even the magpies on the fence
sit in silence

The haiku above Hando wrote at a Cistercian Monastery and maybe you know that the habits of Cistercian monks were white with black ... Hando caught that image in an extra-ordinary way I think. With that same image in mind I wrote the following haiku in response on Hando's.

black on white
crows scatter fresh fallen snow -
the Morningstar rises

Carpe Diem Special #66, Hando's "footprints in the sand"

Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

Another week has gone by and today I love to share another wonderful haiku written by our featured haiku-poet for this month, Hando. I have read wonderful haiku inspired on our first Special by Hando written by you all, my dear friends and family-members.
The haiku for today, is the following:

footprints in the sand
to here and there and nowhere
and the gull flying

Footprints in the sand

This photo did brought a poem into my mind ... a poem about the Lord carrying us, so I have sought for that poem and I found it. I love to share it with you all here at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai.

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
other times there were one set of footprints.

This bothered me because I noticed
that during the low periods of my life,
when I was suffering from
anguish, sorrow or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints.

So I said to the Lord,
"You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you,
you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during
the most trying periods of my life

 there have only been one
set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most,
you have not been there for me?"

The Lord replied,
"The times when you have
seen only one set of footprints,
is when I carried you."

It's a wonderful poem I think and I loved sharing it with you all, but now back to our Special haiku by Hando ... this haiku inspired me to write the following haiku:

along the sea side
just the sound of the waves -
finally found peace
