Carpe Diem Time Challenge #3 Moorland

 

Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

I had some spare time, so I thought I create a little teaser for you. So therefore I choose an episode of our special feature "Carpe Diem Time Challenge", that unique feature in which I challenge you to create a haiku, tanka or other Japanese poetry form with a theme within 48 hours. Normally I give you only 24 hours but today's Time Challenge you can respond to within 48 hours.

This Sunday I have chosen a nice theme I think ... "Moorland" ... In this time of year, at least on the Northern Hemisphere the moorlands are in full bloom. I love the moorlands ... it's a joy to roam about the moorlands. I love all those colors, the silence and the vistas ...

Wandering the moorlands ... so relaxing, being one with nature, its beauty and the silence. I can smell the heather, hear the birds sing, touch the fragile flowers of the heather ... all my senses open up again.

Carpe Diem's Seven Days Before Christmas 2019 (1) Peace Within

Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

Welcome at the first episode of our traditional feature "Seven Days Before Christmas" 2019. It has been a while that I published here during circumstances with my mom. At the moment her dementia looks stable, but she gives me still worries. Because of her behaviour, she sometimes goes outside in the middle of the night, I have slept at her home to give her a feeling of safety. I have now been at her home almost a week and it looks like she starts "to accept" that she will become more and more demented ... I had the possibility to leave her alone in her home with good care by nurses. So it gives me a kind of freedom or to connect with our theme for this first episode of "Seven Days Before Christmas", peace within.

 'The Peace Within' is referring to the balance in your life which brings peace within. To me that's what haiku does. I write haiku since the late eighties and I have grown to a balanced person with a heart full of joy and love. I even think that haiku has a positive influence on my work as an oncology nurse. I am more balanced through haiku and I hope haiku does that also to you all.


gentle breeze
refreshes my troubled mind -
finally peace within
my head completely empty
through the gentle breeze

Peace Within ... is what I love to wish you all during this Holiday season and let us hope that the Peace Within will become once also a Peace On Earth. We are enetering a new decade and I hope and pray that everyone and everything on Earth will get that Peace Within.

Welcome at a new weekend-meditation here at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai. This weekend I have something new for you. This weekend-meditation has a twist in it. I will give you only a few themes to work with and you may choose your own Japanese poetry form that's why I titled it "free styling".

Carpe Diem Seven Days Before Christmas 2015 #1 fresh snow

Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

As promised ... we will countdown to Christmas from today on. In my opinion Christmas starts with Christmas Eve, so that's why this special feature starts today. In the upcoming days we will "grow" to Christmas with each other by special prompts which are in a way connected to Christmas as for example "fresh snow" as is the prompt for this episode of "Seven Days Before Christmas".

You can share all kinds of Japanese poetry forms for this special feature, but please try to stay to the scene of the prompt.

Here is my haiku for this first episode of CD Seven Days Before Christmas:

fresh fallen snow
creaks beneath my feet -
full snow moon walk

full snow moon walk
through my neighborhood
while snow is falling
