Carpe Diem "Make The Haiku Complete" (100) encore, just for fun. "dancing in the moonlight"

Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

As you all know I have several special features here at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai and sometimes I just have the urge to share such a feature to "trigger" your imagination and so I thought ... "let's do a surprise episode of Carpe Diem's Make The Haiku Complete.

The goal of this feature is to make the haiku complete which I am giving you. This time I made it a little bit more difficult, because I will give you only the 2nd line of the haiku and than you have to create the first and the third line.

Carpe Diem's Make the haiku complete #5, "mists over the foreign highlands"

Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

I thought last night  "it's time to make another episode of our Special feature "make the haiku complete" and I thought "and I will make it a real challenge". Therefore I have chosen an unique challenge for you, a haiku of which I am only giving the second line ... so you have to make the haiku complete by adding the first line and the third line.

Here is the challenge:

Well ... it's not an easy one, and I am going to make it a bit more of a challenge. You have to use the classical syllables-count (this second is 7 syllables) and another kigo (seasonword), in the second line the "mists" refers to autumn ...

So ... a challenge it is ... and I made it even that difficult that I myself couldn't make this one complete immediately ... so I wish you all good luck and a lot of fun of course.

Carpe Diem's Make the haiku complete #5, ''departing geese''

Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

What a joy to present you a new episode of "make the haiku complete". I think that I have a nice (tough) challenge for you all.
For this episode I have chosen to challenge you to write a second line towards a given haiku. This time it's really a hard challenge, because writing a second line is more difficult than writing a 1st or 3rd line to complete a haiku. To make it even more difficult ... the second line must be 7 syllables, as is the "rule" for the classic haiku.

Here is the haiku to complete:

departing geese

Carpe Diem "Make the Haiku Complete" #4, "rising up to heaven?"

Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

It's my pleasure to share with you all a new episode of Carpe Diem Make the haiku complete. This new episode will be a bit different than the other episodes of this feature. In those episodes we had to complete the haiku by writing the last line, but in this episode ... I love to challenge you all to complete the haiku by writing the first line of it.
It's a wellknown haiku by one of the classical haiku-masters and the only thing I will give you here is the scene on which the haiku was inspired.

[...] The moon is hazy, and the faint sweet scent of the plum blossoms rises up towards it. The halo of the moon is to the eye what the scent of the blossoms is to the sense of smell; the whiteness of the flowers and that of the halo reflect each other, and are one in that faint sweet perfume [...]

 

And here it is ... the haiku to complete by writing the first line.

Of course this isn't  easy, but it's worth a try and so here is my attempt to complete this haiku.

Hm ... not that strong I think, but I think it was worth the effort to try and share it with you all here at our haiku-community.

Carpe Diem's Make the Haiku Complete #3

 

Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

It's a pleasure to post a new episode of our "Make the Haiku Complete"- feature. It's a great challenge as I may believe you ... it's great and it is fun. This bi-weekly feature is really a joy to make. The last episode of this feature was about the "incomplete haiku by Basho"

And I have read really nice third lines, for example:

The Imaginator came up with the following third line:

sprouts emerge from mulch

Or this one by GenesMusings:

waits for warm returns

And my own third line was:

missing a wife
the bamboo grass dives under -
wise men's gathering

And then now our new "make the haiku complete" - challenge. I challenge you all to make the following haiku complete:

chanting and humming

Carpe Diem's Make the Haiku complete #2

Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

Two weeks ago I started this new feature "Make the Haiku Complete", and I got very positive reactions and comments on this new challenge ... so I think this new feature / challenge will be fun and a strong part of Carpe Diem Haiku Kai.
The goal for this new feature is to make the haiku complete and this week I have found a really nice haiku by Matsuo Basho ... that haiku by Basho has a little anecdote which I love to share with you all.

This haiku by Basho he wrote somewhere in 1690 on a sheet of paper next to another few haiku written by him, but this haiku he really didn't complete ... he forgot the third line or couldn't compose a third line. So this haiku is really incomplete.
Maybe we can complete this 'unfinished' haiku after almost 325 years ... that's the challenge for this episode of "Make the Haiku Complete" ... write the third line of this haiku by Basho.

Well ... I think this one isn't easy ... but I have to try it (of course) myself too. So here is my attempt to write a third line to this haiku by Basho,

missing a wife
the bamboo grass dives under -
wise men's gathering (*)

(*) refers to the "The Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove", a group of Chinese scholars and poets in the mid third century,very similar with what Henry Thoreau describes in his "Walden, Life in the Woods".

I think that I have made this haiku complete in the spirit of Basho, but ... that's not up to me to decide. I challenge you my dear Haijin, visitors and travelers to make this unfinished haiku by Basho complete by writing the third line. Have fun ...

Carpe Diem "Make the haiku complete" #1

Good day dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

Not so long ago I published a Sneak Preview about our second year of Carpe Diem Haiku Kai. In that post I looked back and I looked forward into our future. As I recall I even wrote that I had a few thoughts about new features here on Carpe Diem Haiku Kai. Today I love to introduce the first episode of a new feature on Carpe Diem Haiku Kai. It's somewaht similar with our Tan Renga Challenge, but in this feature you have to complete a haiku with one our two lines.
The haiku which you have to complete will be a haiku written by one of the classic haiku-poets, modern poets and maybe haiku written by one of you. Time will tell how this new feature will be doing, but for now I love to try this new feature four (4) times in a scheme of one episode bi-weekly.

The first haiku which I will give here is a haiku written by myself. To complete this haiku you have to write a new third line to it. I hope you will like this new feature.

I wrote this haiku november 2011 and it was a prompt of another meme-website ...

cicadas singing
in the last rays of light -

The goal is, as I said above ... to write a third line to this haiku. Please copy and paste the incomplete haiku into your post and enclose your third line.
