Carpe Diem Extra May 22nd 2019 -- forgotten kukai August 2018

Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

As you all know I have a week off, but that doesn't mean I am not busy with Carpe Diem. I ran into a "lost list of the 2nd Troiku-kukai". That 2nd Troiku-kukai we had in August 2018. So I will gather those Troiku and will publish them this week for judging.

Carpe Diem's Troiku Kukai "in the herb garden"

Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

It is my pleasure to invite you to the first Carpe Diem Troiku Kukai "in the herb garden". As you all know here at CDHK I create kukai on a regular base, but the last kukai "departure" has been a while ago. I even hadn't time to announce the winner of the "departure"- kukai, but I will soon publish the results of that kukai. Until than ... I already invite you to participate in a new special CDHK kukai in which I ask you to create a Troiku from a given haiku.

Troiku is a creative way of haiku-ing which I invented back in 2012 short after the start of CDHK. The goal of Troiku is to create three new haiku starting with the separated lines of a given haiku. So a Troiku has four haiku:

Russian Troika (from which I created the Troiku)

The first haiku is the haiku from which you have to start creating three new haiku. Haiku two, three and four are newly created haiku that start with the separated lines of the first haiku.
Let me try to explain that with that famous haiku by Basho:

old pond
frog jumps into
water sound

The three new haiku start with the separated lines; haiku 1 starts with the first line "old pond"; the 2nd haiku starts with the 2nd line "frog jumps into" and the 3rd haiku starts with the 3rd line "water sound". Together with the "base"-haiku the troiku counts four (4) haiku. Of course there is no use of following the classical rules, so troiku is a kind of "free-style" haiku-ing as did e.g. Santoka Taneda.

For this Carpe Diem Troiku Kukai I have chosen a haiku created by Claire Vogel Camargo. Claire granted me permission to use her haiku by the way.
