Carpe Diem #1003 Fir

Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

Today I have a short regular episode for you. As you know we are busy to explore the mysterious beauty of nature and we are trying to do that through the ancient Celtic Ogham (tree) alphabet.
Today I have a nice tree for you and I even think it needs no more explanation. So I will only give the "spiritual" meaning today to inspire you. Fir ... is the tree for today and it's a beautiful tree that can become huge and that we will see back in its meaning. A true mystery this tree ...

Fir is a very tall slender tree that grows in mountainous regions on the upper slopes. Fir cones respond to rain by closing and the sun by opening. Fir can see over great distance to the far horizon beyond and below. Fir indicates high views and long sights with clear vision of what is beyond and yet to come. Also known as the Birth Tree. The needles are burned at childbirth to bless and protect the mother and baby.

Fir can see into the future and is a very useful tree in divination. So this tree is really wonderful ... and not only in its meaning, but also as seen in nature.

Carpe Diem Theme Week 5 (4) The Third and Fourth Ray

Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

I am aware that our running Theme Week "Ascension" not any one's "cup of tea" is, but as I am very open minded I thought to do it right to bring something controversial. I also think that this "Ascension" idea will not inspire you, at least not every one of you. Of course that doesn't mind ... Carpe Diem Haiku Kai is an open minded family of haiku lovers and they are all free to participate or not.

Let us look at the 3rd and 4th ray of the so called "Seven Rays", seven paths ruled by an ascended master to help you in your spiritual growth.

Paul The Venetian, is the Ascended Master and Chohan of the Third, The Pink Ray and here is some more background on him:

Paul The Venetian, Chohan of the Third Ray of Love
This Ascended Masters is special, because he is the one who cherish beauty and is in a way the Ascended Master of the Arts and Beauty.

Paul the Venetian is chohan of the third ray of divine love. He is hierarch of the etheric retreat, the Château de Liberté, located on the etheric plane over southern France on the Rhône River.

Paul the Venetian is a majestic being of some six feet, five inches in height. He is fair of countenance with deep blue eyes and golden, wavy hair. He is usually garbed in raiment of emerald-green velvet. Since he is a native of the planet Venus, where the inhabitants are masters of the Flame and therefore radiate harmony and divine love, Paul’s natural heritage is beauty and grace, diplomacy and tact. His voice is melodious and kind, bringing comfort and peace to all who come in contact with his Presence.

The ascended master Paul the Venetian is a great teacher of the path of love. His devotion is to beauty, the perfection of the soul through compassion, patience, understanding, self-discipline and the development of the intuitive and creative faculties of the heart by the alchemy of self-sacrifice, selflessness and surrender.
He initiates the heart chakra, and he trains us in the gift of the discerning of spirits—discerning good and evil, light and shadow and the delicate nuances of all of our creations of beauty. Discernment is a real inner sensitivity to one another.

The Ascended Master and Chohan of the Fourth Ray, the White Ray is Serepis Bey, who was in a former life the architect of the Great Pyramid in Egypt.

Serapis Bey

Serapis Bey is the chohan of the fourth ray.
The fourth ray is the ascension flame, the white light of the Mother in the base-of-the-spine chakra. Out of this white light comes architecture, the principles of mathematics, the foundations of the building of the Matter temple and the pyramid of Self.

In the presence of Serapis, one knows an entirely different conception of what we call the Christ, the real person of us all. Known as the Great Disciplinarian, Serapis came from Venus with the Ancient of Days to rekindle the sacred fire in the hearts of a wayward mankind. His great enthusiasm to reclaim the sons of man as kings and priests unto God swelled and mounted into a flame of iron will, determination and discipline.

He assists his students in the self disciplines that are necessary for the ascension: the discipline of the four lower bodies in order that the Christ may appear and use them as vehicles for service and attainment in the world of form; the disciplining of past momentums of negative spirals and of human creation that would stand in the way of the ascension flame forming within the heart of everyone evolving upon the planet through the acceleration of the threefold flame.

Guiseppe Verdi captured the music of the ascension flame in the Triumphal March from Aïda. The radiance of the electronic presence of Serapis Bey and his twin flame pour through the aria Celeste Aïda. (Which you can listen at hereafter: Aria Celeste Aida performed by Luciano Pavarotti

Well ... this was our 4th episode of this Theme Week "Ascension", I hope I have told you a little bit more about the ideas behind Ascension and the Ascended Masters needed.

Carpe Diem #1002 Elder

Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

It's my pleasure to bring a new episode to you about our mysterious nature. This month we are discovering the mysteries and magics of Mother Nature's inhabitants. Today I have another nice tree / bush which I think you will know, because it is very common in a lot of places around the globe, the Elder.

The elder is a small but bountiful tree, covered with edible fragrant blossoms in summer and juicy purple berries in autumn which country people have used for centuries in jams, jellies, medicinal syrups and wine. Its hollow branches have proved useful for all manner of pipes and bellows; in fact, its name probably originates with the Anglo-Saxon 'eller', meaning a kindler of fire. In Ireland elder was a sacred tree, and it was forbidden to break even one twig.

Elder
Like the willow, it seems to have strong feminine associations. In Denmark, peasants would not cut down an elder for fear of Hyldemor, the Elder-mother, who dwelt in its trunk. This belief is also found in Eastern England. In Lincolnshire until quite recently, it was important to ask permission of the ‘Old Lady’ or ‘Old Girl’. The correct way to approach the tree was to say: ‘Old Woman, give me some of thy wood and I will give thee some of mine when I grow into a tree’. If this procedure was not adopted, ill-luck could befall.

An elder-tree witch features in the legend of the famous Rollright Stones in Oxfordshire. A king and his army were marching across the land, when a witch approached him and called out a challenge:

Seven long strides shalt thou take,
If Long Compton thou can see,
King of England thou shalt be.
Now, the village of Long Compton is just hidden behind a low mound known as the archdruid’s barrow. After the king had taken seven strides, the witch called out:
As Long Compton thou canst not see,
King of England thou shalt not be.
Rise up stick and rise up stone,
For King of England thou shalt be none.
Thou and thy men hoar stones shall be
And myself an eldern-tree.

The king became the lone stone known as the King Stone, while his men huddle together as ‘The Whispering Knights’, a group of five stones to the east. The stone circle itself is known as the King’s Men.

King's Men Stone Circle (Oxfordshire)
The elder's reputation went from bad to worse with a Christian legend that claimed that the crucifix was made from its wood and Judas Iscariot was said to have hanged himself on the eider. An old carol called, ‘The Twelve Apostles’ tells the story, and in the last verse denounces the elder, which stands as an outcast from the other trees (any group of trees was known colloquially as the ‘Twelve Apostles’).

The twelve apostles they were standing by,
Their roots in the river, and their leaves in the sky,
The beasts all thrive wherever they be.
But Judas was a-hunged on an elder tree

Soon the much-maligned tree became synonymous with the Devil himself. Many feared to burn elder-logs for fear they would ‘bring the Devil into the house’.

On the Isle of Man, an elder tree outside the cottage door actually kept witches away, according to a Manx folk-tale called, ‘Old Nance and the Buggane’. In other places too it was viewed favorably as a benevolent, protective tree. A 17th century manuscript gives a recipe for a protective amulet made from plucking an elder twig in October, just before the full moon. The wood between the knots must be cut into nine pieces, which are bound in a piece of linen and hung around the neck so that they touch the heart. They hang there until the thread breaks, at which point the amulet has to be buried where it may not be found.

Cottage on The Isle of Man

In some parts of Scotland it ranked only second to rowan in its ability to ward off evil spells and witchcraft. Crosses made of elder twigs hung over stables and barns to protect the livestock. Drivers of hearses carried whip-handles made of elder to ward off evil influences.
Elder has been prescribed throughout the ages for healing ailments from blindness to epilepsy. The leaves gathered on May Eve had the power to cure wounds, and warts could be removed by rubbing them on a green elder stick and burning it: as it rotted away, so did the warts.

As I read this above part of this post I remembered a post I once created on my personal weblog. It was not about the Isle of Man, but about Holy Isle at the shore of Scotland, but I think it fits this "Elder" episode too, so I love to reproduce the tanka and  haiku here, by the way I extracted the tanka from the original cascading haiku:

waves thundering
soothing my mind with emptiness
no thoughts at all
Holy Isle's nature
seagulls cry

seagulls cry
Om Mane Padme Hum
at last ... world peace

Well ... I hope you did like this episode and of course I hope to inspire you to create haiku, tanka or another Japanese poetry form.

This episode is NOW OPEN for your submissions and will remain open until July 25th at noon (CET). I will (try to) publish our next episode, Fir, later on. For now ... have fun, be inspired and share.

Carpe Diem Theme Week (5) #3: The first and second ray

Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

Welcome at the third episode of our Theme Week about Ascension. Yesterday I told you about the Seven Rays and in the upcoming Theme Week episodes I love to share a little bit more about these rays and the Ascended Masters connected to them.

Introduction:

When we come into the knowledge of the ascended masters, we come into an awareness of defining the Path. The path back to the Source can be walked over seven rays of the Christ consciousness that emerge from the white light. The seven color rays are the natural division of the pure white light emanating from the heart of God as it descends through the prism of manifestation. These are the subdivisions of the wholeness of Christ. Regardless of their color, all of the flames have a white-fire core of purity, which embodies all of the attributes of God and which may be invoked by those who desire to expand the Christ consciousness.

The seven rays present seven paths to individual or personal Christhood. Seven masters have mastered identity by walking these paths, defined as the seven archetypes of Christhood. These seven masters are called the chohans of the rays, which means lords of the rays. Chohan is a Sanskrit term for lord, and lord is equivalent to law; hence the chohan is the action of the law of the ray.

To be a chohan on one of the seven rays means that this master defines the law on that ray; through him that energy of the Christ and of God flows to mankind, to all who are evolving on that particular path.

El Morya
The Ascended Masters of the first and second ray are El Morya and Lord Lanto:

El Morya is the chohan of the first ray, the Blue Ray, and chief of the Darjeeling Council of the Great White Brotherhood. El Morya represents the godly attributes of courage, certainty, power, forthrightness, self-reliance, dependability, faith and initiative. These are the qualities of the Father principle—the statesman, the executive, the ruler.
Because he has ably outpictured these essential virtues, El Morya has, through many embodiments, worn the crown of authority, ruling many kingdoms wisely and well. His rulership has not been that of a dictator, demanding that his subjects submit to his human will; but rather, his interpretation of government is God-over-men and his concept of true statesmen is God’s overmen. He inspires in his subjects illumined obedience to the holy will of God.

In a previous life El Morya was Abraham the first patriarch and he was in another life King Arthur.

The Ascended Master of the second ray, the Yellow Ray, Lord Lanto:

Lord Lanto
On July 3, 1958, Lord Lanto was succeeded by the ascended master Confucius as hierarch of the Royal Teton Retreat. On that date also, Lord Lanto, with attainment far beyond that required either of retreat hierarch or chohan, accepted the office of lord of the second ray from Kuthumi. This blessed brother, who had worshiped the God of Peace as Saint Francis, had already joined Jesus in the office of World Teacher in 1956.

On October 30, 1966, in cooperation with the God and Goddess Meru, Lanto was granted the dispensation by the Karmic Board for a “mighty transcendent golden flame of illumination” to pulsate three hundred feet into the atmosphere over the colleges, universities, divinity and theological schools of America and the world whose students and faculty were and would be receptive to knowledge from higher spheres.
The ascended master Lanto conducts classes at the Royal Teton Retreat, the initial retreat of the Great White Brotherhood to where we may ask to be taken in our etheric body at night. Here we learn the fundamentals of the path of initiation. Because of the dispensation of opening the seven retreats of the seven chohans, many tens of thousands of souls are receiving training at inner levels to accelerate their consciousness for the New Age.

Both are very wise man and they are true masters. Of course this is an idea which thousands of people have. I don't know what to say about these Ascended Masters. I think they really exist, but it's of course not my goal to change your ideas. This Theme Week about Ascension is just to bring you inspiration to create haiku, tanka or another Japanese poetry form. However ... I am very interested in these ideas and I even used them partially in one of my first novels

Carpe Diem Tokubetsudesu #88 Back In Time "Revise That Haiku"

Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

Welcome at a new episode of Tokubetsudesu. As you know this month all the Tokubetsudesu episodes are about earlier special features here at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai. This week I love to take you back to one of those special features, "Revise That Haiku".

I love to challenge you all to 'revise' a classical haiku written by Shiki (1867-1902). One of the most extraordinary things about nature, from the scientific and intellectual point of view, is its asymmetry. Life is asymmetrical in its essential character, and it is natural for us to rejoice in it, for it is the guarantee of our spiritual freedom. Even the Great Buddha, for all the Law of Karma and the inviolable Wheel of the Law, the snow melts irregularly. On the sunny side, the snow is gone; on the other, there still remains a white mantle. To our human eye at least, it is a secretly felt confirmation of our inner conviction that 'with God all things are possible'.

Where does this lead to? Well ... it's to show you the picture which is (can be) seen in the following haiku by Shiki, which we are going to revise.

Daibutsu no katahada no yuki toki ni keri

the snow has melted
on one shoulder

As you maybe know in this special feature the goal is to revise the given haiku and write/compose a new one. Not an easy task and it needs some courage to revise a haiku by one of the greatest four haiku-poets ever (Basho, Buson, Issa and Shiki), but ... well it challenges you to look in a different way to the classical haiku.

snowdrops are blooming

What a joy. Notwithstanding the snow, the print of winter, new life conquers it. The snow is melting and the snowdrops, the first messengers of spring, are starting to bloom.

I hope you will take up this challenge and I love to encourage you all to 'revise' the haiku by Shiki.

This Tokubetsudesu episode is NOW OPEN for your submissions and will remain open until July 24th at noon (CET). I will (try to) publish our new epsidoe, Elder, later on. For now ... have fun!

Carpe Diem Theme Week 5 (2) ascended masters and the seven rays

Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

Welcome at the second episode of our 5th Theme Week in which we will explore and discover the deeper meaning of Ascension and the Ascended Masters whom are helping us to reach that spiritual point in which we will ascend ...

Of course I cannot write about all the known Ascended Masters, but I think it's important to take you by the hand and show you some background on this idea of Ascension and Ascenede Masters. Therefore I love to tell you something more about how the Ascended Masters are working. Every Ascended Master, for example: Jesus or Metatron or Babaji, works through a system that is called the Seven Rays (it's a term introduced by the renown spiritualist Madam Blavatsky). These are the Seven Rays:

The Seven Rays are connected with the Seven Chakras

The first ray is the Blue Ray, the ray of God's Will and Power
The second ray is the Yellow Ray, the ray of Wisdom
The third ray is the Pink Ray, the ray of Unconditional Love
The fourth ray is the White Ray, the ray of Harmony through Conflict
The fifth ray is the Green and Orange Ray, the ray of Healing, Knowledge and Truth
The sixth ray is the Ruby, Gold and Purple Ray, the ray of devotion and goddess ray
The seventh ray is the Violet Ray, the Ray of Transmutation
And than, something I find a little bit strange, there is in this theory of the Seven Rays also an eighth ray. The eighth ray is the Rainbow Ray, the Ray of Integration, there is only one ascended masters that works through this ray ... White Tara

Seven Rays Lotus

It is possible to find your own ascended masters guiding you on your spiritual path. Several years ago I visited a medium and she created a painting for me in which she showed which rays were seen in me. In the heart of the painting there was a bright yellow and orange sun, so that meant that ascended masters working through those rays were my guides. But that wasn't all ... in her painting there was a lot of green, but also rays of pink and ruby. It was an amazing experience, because I was very skeptic as I visited her together with my wife, but after wards ... my wife said ... that painting is exactly you no doubts at all.

Ascended Masters ... you have heard from them I think. They are guiding us all on the path we have chosen and they keep us on our path. Of course we have free will. We decide which path we will take, therefore there are more ascended masters who guide you, but all together they will lead you to ascension ... that's for sure.
