Carpe Diem's Tan Renga Challenge #14, "the paper lanterns" written by HA

Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

Our new Tan Renga is this week built around a haiku by HA of How Anxious He shared this haiku with us for our prompt Obon Festival last week. HA writes in his own style and with that he does what the 'undertitle' of his weblog says: "Creating new worlds to escape from reality". Isn't that what we all do with writing? Are we not all try to escape from reality?
I love to share that haiku by HA here as the first stanza of our new Tan Renga Challenge.

the paper lanterns
float away to neverland
pure light of spirits

(c) HA

The goal of this Tan Renga Challenge is to write a second stanza (7-7) in respons of the first stanza (5-7-5). Please copy and paste the first stanza into your post and make the Tan Renga complete.

First stanza (5-7-5):

the paper lanterns
float away to neverland
pure light of spirits

Second stanza (7-7):

???????????????????
???????????????????

My attempt to complete the Tan Renga:

the paper lanterns
float away to neverland
pure light of spirits                                                        (HA)

taken by the western wind
the memories of our ancestors                                      (Chèvrefeuille, your host)

Well I think this haiku by HA as the starting stanza of the Tan Renga for this week will be inspiring. This Tan Renga Challenge is open for your submissions 'till September 20th 11.59 AM (CET) and I will (try to) post our next challenging Tan Renga later on that day. Have fun.
