Carpe Diem Tokubetsudesu #87 Back In Time "Carpe Diem's Japanese Garden"

Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

As I promised this month all the Tokubetsudesu episodes are special features I once brought on one of my weblogs. This week I have a very nice special feature for you. That special feature was called "Carpe Diem’s Japanese Garden”. This feature goes back to the roots of haiku and challenges you to go back to basic. The title of this feature is referring to the classic rules of haiku, but in this feature not all those classic rules have to be used, just a few of them.

Which rules you have to use here?

1. 5-7-5 syllables
2. A moment as short as the sound of a pebble thrown into water
3. A kigo
4. A deeper, spiritual meaning
5. And last, but not least, it must have a nature image

As the title already says ... it has to be something which can be seen in your garden, but in this case garden can be seen a bit broader, because you also may use an image from a park in your neighborhood or e.g. a park such as Yellowstone Park.

Here is one of my haiku (which I wrote 'back intime'  for CD's Japanese Garden:

gurgling valley stream
can't resist your lovely song -
shadow of a Carp

This is a very challenging feature and I like this one very much and I hope you all like the "trip along memory lane" this month.

Carpe Diem Time Glass #24

Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

Here it is again ... The Time Glass feature in which the goal is to respond on the prompt and a given picture with a haiku or tanka within 24 hours. And today I just have a picture for you all ... or no ... it's a haiga which I made several years ago and which you maybe can know because I used it in our prompt-list for March.
I love to challenge you to write/compose an all new haiku (or tanka) in response on that haiga ... and if you think you can make a haiga yourself within 24 hours than you may also submit a haiga.

This haiga "Japanese Garden" I made in 2006 it was from a photo which I had taken several years earlier in a theme park in the province were I live. That theme park was about agriculture here in The Netherlands. In that park there was also a Japanese garden ... that's were I have taken this photo.

As you all know the Time Glass feature is a time-challenging feature ... you have to respond within 24 hours starting tonight at 7.00 PM (CET) and ending on Monday March 9th at 7.00 PM (CET). So you have just 24 hours.

Carpe Diem's Imagination #9, "Japanese Garden"

 

Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

Another new episode of Carpe Diem's Imagination, the feature in which the goal is to write a haiku/senryu or tanka/kyoka inspired on a given image. The image can be a photo, painting or other kind of picture.
The goal is to paint with words, or in other words, in your poem you have to read something which can be found in the picture or associated on something on the picture or the whole picture.

As you can see ... I have made a new logo for this feature ... Hope you all do like it. Well ... let's go do it ... let flow your imagination ... be inspired by the picture hereafter.

 

 

A gorgeous Japanese Garden ... must be a source of inspiration ... this photo inspired me to write the following haiku:

 

rustling leaves,

the sound of falling water -

profound silence

 

profound silence

as I walk through my garden

saying my prayers

 

saying my prayers

while walking through the garden -
song of a nightingale

 

song of a nightingale

mingles with the sounds of the garden
in praise of Mother Earth
