Welcome at a new episode of our weekly special feature Carpe Diem's Tan Renga Challenge in which I challenge you to complete a Tan Renga by adding the second stanza of two lines (7-7) towards the given "hokku".
This week I have chosen a nice "hokku" by one of the four greatest haiku poets ever, Matsuo Basho. As you know (maybe) I see him as my master and I love all his haiku.
Here is your challenge:
inazuma ya yami no kata yuku goi no koe
a flash of
lightning—
passing through the darkness
a night heron’s scream
