Carpe Diem Extra August 10th 2016 results of the "prayers" kukai

Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

First my apologies for being this late with the results of the "prayers" kukai.

The last week I often spook about praying for others, because of the passing away of my dear friend and mentor, Jane Reichhold. Praying is a strong power to cope with these kind of things and it gives you the opportunity to be there for someone else.

in deep prayer
eyes closed in devotion -
Lotus starts to bloom

Here are the results of our "prayers" kukai:

Our winner of the "prayers" kukai is Dolores of "Adas Poetry Alcove" her haiku got 12 points. Dolores won the kukai with the following haiku:

autumn evening
like whispered prayers
leaves float away

A wonderful haiku in which I sense the power of praying. A haiku which I even would call a "masterpiece".

!!! CONGRATULATIONS DOLORES !!!

Being the winner of the "prayers" kukai Dolores will be our featured haiku poetess in the CD-Specials of September and she won the opportunity to create an exclusive CDHK E-book.

Our "runner-up" is Ese. With her beautiful haiku she got 8 points. Here is the haiku by Ese:

silent steps -
one more candle illuminates
the old chapel

In this haiku the "prayer" is invisible, but very strong present. I can see this scene in front of me.

!!! CONGRATULATIONS ESE !!!

Being the "runner-up" of the "prayers" kukai Ese will be featured in one of the Tokubetsudesu episodes of September.

Here are the results of all the haiku:

winner (haiku 5): 12 points
runner up (haiku 2): 8 points

7 points : haiku 20
2 points : haiku 8, 9 and 11
1 point : haiku 1, 4, 12, 18 and 21

0 points : haiku 3, 6, 7, 10, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 19, 21, 22

I love to start a new kukai, but this kukai will be a little bit different, because I love to challenge you to create a maximum of three (3) haiku (only haiku) inspired on two haiku by Jane Reichhold. This kukai is a tribute to her. Of course this is maybe more difficult so for this kukai you can submit your haiku until September 15th 10.00 PM (CET).

This kukai I have titled: "tribute to Jane" and here are the two haiku for your inspiration:

coming to sea cliffs
the off-shore breeze raises
a flower fragrance

scattered in sand
embers of a saltwood fire
face to face with stars

Email your submissions to: carpediemhaikukai@gmail.com please write "kukai tribute" in the subjectline.

I am looking forward to your submissions for this "special" kukai.

Namaste,

© Chèvrefeuille, your host
